The Headmaster will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the school, ensuring excellence in education and fostering a positive, inclusive, and innovative learning environment.

They will manage the overall operations of the school, working collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and the wider community to achieve academic and personal success for all students.

Paul is the first old boy of Westlake Boys High School, (WBHS) to assume the role of Headmaster,

Prior to his appointment, Paul was an Associate Principal who was primarily responsible for pastoral care and ensuring the school was a safe and healthy learning environment for students.

He previously spent five years as Assistant Principal at Rosmini College, where he led the school’s co-curricular program, managed school property and infrastructure, and enhanced health and safety processes. He had joined Rosmini as a Teacher of Physical Education in 2010 progressing to head the Physical Education Department and become a Year 13 Dean before assuming the Assistant Principal role.

Whilst at Rosmini, Paul had an 18-month sabbatical in the United Kingdom teaching Physical Education at Surbiton Girls High School in London.

Westlake Boys High School (WBHS) in Forrest Hill, Auckland, is known for its academic excellence and diverse co-curricular activities. Established in 1962, the school offers a broad curriculum providing learning programmes designed especially for WBHS students and community by the school’s teachers, using the New Zealand Curriculum as the framework.

WBHS excels in sports, with numerous national titles and a comprehensive sports programme. Working closely with Westlake Girls, WBHS jointly runs the largest secondary school music programme in New Zealand and its students have enjoyed regional and national success in drama and theatre.

A bicultural school in a multicultural community, WBHS aims to provide a learning environment where students are encouraged to find their cultural identity, and have pride in their mātauranga and themselves.

Service is a core value, with students participating in community service and leadership opportunities through various clubs and organisations.
