Vector Limited appoints Bruce Hassall as Independent Non-Executive Director

Johnson Partners is very pleased to have partnered with Vector Limited on the appointment of Bruce Hassall as Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board.

Bruce’s appointment by new Chair, Doug McKay and the Vector Limited Board comes at an exciting time for the organisation following the sale of 50% of Vector Metering Limited to QIC Limited earlier in the year, with new strategic initiatives to drive growth in both New Zealand and Australia.

Vector Limited is New Zealand’s largest distributor of electricity and gas, owning and operating networks which span New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. Entrust (formerly known as the Auckland Energy Consumer Trust or AECT) is Vector’s majority shareholder.

Bruce has had a distinguished career with broad and deep commercial and strategic experience, and connections across the New Zealand economy including in the small medium enterprise (SME), commercial, government and export sectors.

Before he started his governance career, Bruce had a 30-year career with PwC NZ where he was responsible for the executive leadership of PwC NZ, including the creation and execution of its strategy in New Zealand. He was also on the PwC AsiaPac leadership team.

Bruce has broad experience with both major public and private companies and cooperatives in a range of industries including retail and distribution, manufacturing, technology, forestry and entertainment sectors. He has extensive experience in financial reporting, information system processes, risk management, business acquisitions, capital raising and IPOs across both listed and private companies.

He is currently Chair of Fletcher Building Limited, Chair of The Farmers Trading Company Limited and Chair of Prolife Group Holdings Limited. He is a Director of Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited. He was previously an independent non-executive director of the Bank of New Zealand and Fonterra. He served for over 10 years as a member of the Advisory Board at the University of Auckland Business School and was a founding board member of the New Zealand China Council.
