Sue Brake appointed to Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation Board
We are very pleased to be working again with the Nominating Committee on the appointment of Sue Brake to the Board of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation (NZ Super Fund). This continues a program of Board renewal and transition to ensure that the Guardians' reputation is enhanced as a world leader in global investment strategy and performance.
The management of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund is overseen by an independent Board, The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation. Board members are chosen for their experience, training and expertise in the management of financial investments, as well as their mix of complementary skills including governance, leadership, sustainable finance/ESG and commercial acumen. For this appointment, particular emphasis was placed upon individuals with substantial experience, training and expertise in the management or oversight of financial investments, in particular as a Chief Investment Officer or in an equivalent role.
Sue Brake brings more than two decades of experience in investment management, governance and strategic advice to the role. She has previously been the Chief Investment Officer at Australia’s Future Fund, and has held roles at the New Zealand Super Fund, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the International Monetary Fund.
The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation (Guardians) is an autonomous Crown entity entrusted with the management and investment of a significant pool of funds held by the New Zealand Superannuation Fund. The Guardians’ purpose is “sustainable investments delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders”. Currently the Fund is now valued at over $80 billion.
