The Kristin Board of Governors sought a non‑parent trustee board member to contribute to the governance, administration, and the school’s overall direction. Trustees have particular responsibility for safeguarding the school’s assets while working collaboratively with fellow board members. A background in education and understanding of the International Baccalaureate was considered ideal.

Lynda Reid is a highly respected New Zealand educational leader with more than forty years’ experience across teaching, senior leadership, governance and consultancy. As Executive Principal of St Cuthbert’s College from 1996 to 2016, she led a sustained period of academic, pastoral and strategic advancement, strengthening the school’s reputation for innovation, values based education and holistic student development. Her tenure included the introduction of the International Baccalaureate alongside NCEA, a strong emphasis on personalised learning and student agency, and the cultivation of professional learning cultures that empowered both staff and students.

Beyond her school leadership, Lynda has contributed extensively at national level through advisory, governance and policy roles, including work with the Ministry of Education and service on numerous boards and ministerial groups. Since 2017, she has supported school boards and principals with strategy, leadership appointments, curriculum and organisational development, while continuing to hold governance roles across education, arts and community organisations. In recognition of her enduring contribution to education and leadership, she was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2017.

Kristin School is a private co‑educational IB World School in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore, offering education from early learning through Year 13 with about 1,748 students.  It is known for its strong academic record and holistic, values‑based approach to learning.
