Patrick Gale is currently principal of Rangitoto College, New Zealand’s largest secondary school, a role he has held since July 2017. Previously, he was principal of Kaipara College and held leadership positions at Rosmini College. Trained as a Geography teacher in Britain, he first came to New Zealand in 2001 and later returned to Rosmini College in 2003. He holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from AUT University, degrees in Geography from UCL, and postgraduate qualifications in Education.

Beyond his school roles, Patrick is a prominent figure in New Zealand education, serving as Chair of the NCEA Professional Advisory Group for the Ministry of Education. He is recognized for his expertise in curriculum, assessment, and system reform, and is regularly acknowledged by education leaders and the Minister of Education for his principled advocacy and clarity of thought.

King’s College, founded in 1896 in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland, is one of New Zealand’s most prestigious independent secondary schools. It is Anglican faith-based and renowned for academic excellence, offering both NCEA and Cambridge International pathways.
