Diversity in the Australian Not-for-profit Superannuation Funds

An Analysis of Current and Future Gender & Cultural Diversity in Leadership Teams

In our second annual “Diversity in the Australian Industry Superannuation Funds report” we have tracked current representations from demographically minority executives on the executive leadership teams (ELTs) of major industry funds. To compile this report, we have  analysed 19 of the largest industry superannuation funds to measure their current executive team leadership from a gender and cultural diversity measurement.

We have analysed each leadership team for the representation and roles of female and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) executives.

With continual consolidation occurring in the industry superannuation fund industry, this analysis was conducted at a ‘point in time’ on 6 June 2023 where the following funds we considered the largest by FUM:

  • Australian Retirement Trust (ART)
  • AustralianSuper
  • Aware Super
  • Brighter Super
  • Commonwealth Super Corporation (CSC)
  • CareSuper (prior to Spirit Super merger)
  • Cbus
  • EquipSuper
  • First Super
  • HESTA
  • Hostplus
  • LegalSuper
  • Mine Super
  • NGS Super
  • REI Super
  • Spirit Super (prior to CareSuper merger)
