David Martin appointed Chief Sales & Marketing Transformation Lead, Summerset

We are delighted to have partnered with Chief Executive Officer Scott Scoullar and Chief People Officer Chris Lokum GAICD on the appointment of David Martin as Chief Sales & Marketing Transformation Lead to Summerset Retirement Villages.

This newly created role brings Summerset’s Sales and Marketing & Communications functions together under a single leadership structure, supporting a more consistent customer experience, clearer alignment of messaging, and stronger use of shared insights across the business.

David is a highly experienced commercial and marketing leader with deep expertise across New Zealand’s retirement, property, and real estate sectors. Most recently, he was General Manager Sales & Marketing at Metlifecare, where he unified sales and marketing teams and led a significant transformation that lifted revenue performance, sharpened execution, and strengthened the overall sales operating model. He also led a research-driven rebrand that materially improved brand awareness and preference.

Earlier in his career, David held senior leadership roles at Todd Property Group and Harcourts International, where he drove growth across large-scale residential developments, strengthened brand positioning, and led complex, multi-disciplinary teams operating at national and international scale.

Summerset is one of New Zealand’s leading retirement village operators, with a growing portfolio across New Zealand and Australia, focused on delivering high-quality retirement living and care.

Johnson Partners thanks Nicola Morris, Pete Macauley, Katie Mills, Samantha Bovingdon and Madeleine Willis for their work on this appointment.
