BDO was seeking a strategic and commercially astute technology leader with a proven track record of leading enterprise technology functions, driving digital transformation, and aligning technology strategy with business objectives.

The successful candidate was expected to bring deep expertise across technology operations, cyber security, data and analytics, enterprise architecture, and AI and technology risk, while fostering innovation and operational excellence across the organisation to enable leading, future-focused outcomes for their clients.

Adam Gower is a highly regarded technology and digital leader with more than 30 years’ experience delivering transformation, innovation and operational excellence across professional services, critical infrastructure, utilities, retail and telecommunications. He has held senior leadership roles with Buddle Findlay, Watercare, Mercury, Foodstuffs North Island and Genesis Energy, leading large-scale technology, cyber security, cloud and digital transformation programmes.

Since 2021, Adam has been serving as Chief Digital Technology Officer at Buddle Findlay, where he leads the firm’s technology strategy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence agenda and technology risk function. Prior to this, as Head of Digital Operations at Watercare, he oversaw technology and control systems within one of New Zealand’s most complex critical infrastructure environments.

Throughout his career, Adam has built a reputation for aligning technology with business strategy, creating high-performing teams and delivering meaningful organisational change that improves performance, resilience and customer outcomes.
